India played a 0-0 draw with England on the third day of the ongoing Hockey World Cup in Odisha. In the last minute, England definitely got a chance to win the match by scoring a penalty corner, but the British failed to capitalize on it.
After this match on Sunday, there was no change in the position of the teams in the points table of Group-D. England remains in first place and India in second place. Both have 4-4 points in their account, but the English team is ahead on the basis of goal difference.
Both the teams played aggressively in the first half of the exciting match which lasted till 9 pm, but the goal could not be scored. Even after the final whistle the score line remained 0-0. The England team was shown one and the hosts India were shown two green cards.
Rourkela’s Birsa Munda Stadium was packed with 20,000 spectators. The spectators who did not get tickets also stood outside the stadium and supported Team India.

1st quarter: 5 penalty corners to
England England took 2 penalty corners in the 7th minute itself, but could not score against the Indian defence. After a third penalty corner in the 8th minute, England took 2 more penalty corners in the 9th minute. This time also there were no goals scored.
India got their first penalty corner of the match in the 12th minute. Germanpreet Singh takes a shot at the corner, but Team India misses it. The score remained 0-0 after the first 15 minutes.

Second Quarter: Both teams on equal footing
In the second quarter too, England kept constant pressure on the Indian team. The team took penalty corners in the 16th and 20th minute itself, but the team could not score on these. India got two penalty corners in the 23rd minute and another in the 25th minute, but we could not break through the English defense on all three occasions. The score still remained 0-0.
Third quarter: Green card for England player
Neither team got any penalty corner in the third quarter, but Thomas Sorsby of England got green card in 40th minute. Thomas had to sit out for 2 minutes after getting the card. After facing pressure in the first half, Team India came back and attacked England, but both the teams could not score goals in this quarter as well.

Fourth Quarter: Green cards to Rohidas and Germanpreet
After the initial 3 quarters were goalless, both the teams continued to play a defensive game in this quarter. Amit Rohidas got green card in 51st minute and Germanpreet Singh in 56th minute. Both had to sit outside for 2-2 minutes. England got a penalty corner in the 60th minute, but could not score.

India got 2 and England got one green card in 60 minutes of the match.
